Korea’s No.1 region for Cornelian Cherry Blossoms - Gurye, Jeollanam-do Province
Hello, this is Jiro.
It’s been a while since my last post — how have you been?
Spring has finally arrived in Korea.
One of the very first flowers to bloom each year is the cornelian cherry blossom.
Today, I’d like to introduce Gurye County, the place with the largest number of cornelian cherry trees in Korea.
Gurye, Jeollanam-do Province
Korea’s No.1 region for Cornelian Cherry Blossoms
The meaning of the Cornelian cherry blossom is “eternal, unchanging love.”
In Gurye, it is said that young couples once gifted Cornelian cherry flowers and fruit to promise a love that would never fade.
Every March, the Cornelian Cherry Blossom Festival fills Gurye with yellow blooms.
You can also walk along the 12.4 km Cornelian Cherry Trail!
Even the town mascot is inspired by the blossom and its bright red fruit.
